About Share PurchaseI was driving around the very eastern portion of North Carolina after a hurricane taking pictures. Because of the ferocity of the storm, the power was out in a lot of places, almost all of the cell towers had been knocked down and even getting access to the internet was spotty. Literally the only way to get information about what was happening in surrounding areas was to actually talk to other people who had been there. I captured one of these meetings here.
These two men knew each other, but hadn’t seen each other in a while and were sharing notes on what other towns had power and a recent evacuation order that had been given in a nearby town.
I feel as though this photo is somewhat poetic given the circumstances. The two men are getting their news while standing outside the one building in the vicinity that was lighted up. It’s almost a modern physical representation of Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. I find this photo quite pleasing to look at.
