Under the Highway
About Share PurchaseI was driving through the back roads of South Carolina and saw a canoe launching spot by the side of the road. I pulled off and started nosing around. It didn’t take me long to realize that structure of the highway made for a very interesting circular reflection in the water. I waited for about 30 minutes for the water to smooth and settle itself. Just as I was about to shoot that near mirror reflection, a guy on a jet ski went flying through. You can actually see his wake in the picture. I sighed and realized that I couldn’t wait another 30-45 minutes for the water to re-settle, so I took this picture.
In the time that has past since then, I think the lack of a complete mirror reflection actually aids the picture. If I got an actual mirror reflection, I think it might have been too perfect and distracted the viewer from what was going on in the picture. Happy accidents!
