All Of My Change I Spent On You
About Share PurchaseWith the United States’ removal of payphones in most cities, sometimes because they are seen as a terrorist threat, going to places where payphones are not just present, but present in spades is a unique trip back in time. The first time I saw the volume of payphones in Georgetown in the Cayman Islands, I was absolutely confused. It wasn’t like there were one or two payphones, there were dozens upon dozens. It turns out that the prevalence of payphones is a convenience for all the cruise ship patrons who anchor in the harbor and come ashore. The tourists’ cell phones don’t work, so they use payphones. It makes perfect sense.
I, for one, had a field day shooting the payphones. There was just something about the teal walls and the royal blue payphones that spoke to me. This is my favorite of the bunch. It’s hard for me not to be happy looking at this image.
And, yeah, that’s a Maroon 5 “Payphone” title joke.
