Cars on a Foggy Night
About Share PurchaseEvery once in a while, I fall in love with a photo I’ve taken. I can’t stop starring at it, I can’t stop thinking about it and looking at the image in question makes me feel really, really good. It doesn’t happen that often, but when it does, it’s great. The last photo like this was this photo of a lone light on in a house window. This photo is currently the new ‘best photo ever’. You know, until another one comes along.
Not that it especially looks it, but I took this photo on a very foggy night. The fog in the background is why the sky is white; it picked up some crazy stadium lights and turned everything in the area white. The trees at night were, rather naturally, black. The only bits of color I saw were the street lights (and the car head and tail lights) at the nearby intersection.
What makes this photo for me is the fact that this has not been Photoshopped in any way. This is the way it way. Black and white everywhere except the intersection. Normally, photographers do things like this in post to highlight one bit of color; this was 100% natural.
I also am quite taken with the way that the road appears dark until you start looking at it more closely and it begins to develop texture and personality. This is good stuff!
