Hoffman Tower at Night
About Share PurchaseThe Hoffman Tower has seen better days. It’s sad because, while the actual tower is an old, crumbling building with a few minor leakage issues, it also has an enormous amount of personality. It’s a giant castle turret in suburban Chicago! Whenever I drive by it with people from out of town, I explain that it’s a mental asylum where patients can only escape by squeezing through the narrow windows. That story is hardly ever met with any significant resistance.
Perhaps it’s the angle of this photo–looking straight up at the tower–and perhaps it’s the trees that seemingly envelop the tower at its base, but the regal nature of the Hoffman Tower truly shines through in this image. With starry skies behind it and small trails of light emanating from the lights at the top of the tower, Hoffman Tower stands strong here. Hopefully, the building will continue to do so well into the future.
