When I was offered the opportunity to do a photo shoot with porn star Jesse Jane, I immediately said ‘yes’.  Because–and it’s sad that this is actually true–I thought that it would be good for my career.  If people were going to be googling ‘Jesse Jane photos’ they’d find my images of her, as far as I know one of the only non-nude photo shoots she’s done, and would be thusly exposed to my work.

And there are problems with shooting non-nude porn stars that you don’t experience with other subjects.  Jane had come from a morning radio appearance in Chicago and was wearing a push-up bra and a tank top.  Her breasts were spilling over the top of her tank top in a way that made it impossible to notice anything else.

Because the morning radio appearance had run extremely long, she hadn’t had a chance to go back to her hotel to change outfits or bring different wardrobe to the shoot so we were forced to use what she had with her… including her white hoodie.  It was a hot and steamy day in June when we were shooting.  It was easily 85 and humid when we started and probably 95 by the time we ended.    It was sweltering and I kept instructing Jane to keep her hoodie on and fully zipped up.  It was the only thing I could think of to keep her ample cleavage from overwhelming the photos.

Years later, I bumped into Jane in LA at an event and said hello to her.  My default position on encountering celebrities with whom I’ve previously worked is that no one will remember me.  I told her we’d shot before and she starred at me blankly.  In Chicago, I said.  Outside.  She snapped her fingers.  “You’re the guy who had me put *ON* clothes,” she laughed.  “You’re the only photographer I’ve ever worked with who had me put on more clothes.”
