One of the benefits to shooting locations that are near large metropolitan areas at night is how the lights of the city impact the photo. I was shooting the Milwaukee, Wisconsin lakefront one night and was amazed at the way that the lights from Milwaukee crept out onto the lake.
In this photo, half the sky is black, the other half is white. The line separating the two is the limit to which the city lights go. It’s an absolutely bizarre split that I like more and more every time I look at it.
