Niagara Falls in Pink
About Share PurchaseAt night, from 8-10 or 6:30-10 depending on whom you speak to, intense, pastel lights affixed to the Canadian side of the Niagara gorge are shined onto the falls creating a panoply of pink, aquamarine, orange and neon green colors on the water. And strangely, it’s rather cool to see. This and not some unfortunate industrial accident explains the bright pink water going over the falls in this photo.
When my surprise subsided over there essentially being a laser show on one of the most unique natural phenomenons on the continent, I came to embrace it. It such a bizarre combination of esthetics that it really is interesting to see and, besides, if there weren’t a light show, it would be pitch black and nobody would be able to see anything. Thus, pink water.
