Rapture Over Riverside
About Share PurchaseThis is another photo of mine that’s validity is often questioned. “It has to be edited in Photoshopped,” I’m constantly told. And it is. There used to be a white car parked in front of the Riverside (Illinois) Town Hall that I removed. Everything else is wildly real.
I’m Facebook friends with a guy who lives just west of Aurora, Illinois. He took some crazy looking photos of a storm front that was coming in and posted them on Facebook. I saw them half an hour after he posted them; just enough time to get my camera and head outside to shoot the front as it began to move into Riverside.
When I stepped outside, the first thing I saw was a series of dark lines in the sky. It was almost like a line was drawn between the the good and bad weather. You can see that line here. When the storm passed overhead, it was downright eerie. Not only did everything have a yellowish tint, but the clouds looked like what you would see if you dove under a breaking wave and looked up towards the sky. Two minutes after I took this picture, it started pouring. Fifteen minutes later, the front had passed through and everything was back to normal.
