Riverside Water Tower for the 4th of July
About Share PurchaseThree times a year, the water tower in downtown Riverside is lit up in holiday themed colors. The work is done by the incredibly talented Aaron Murr. He out did himself this 4th of July with his sky blue and red lights on the tower. Every time I drove through the town center at night, I was awed by the beauty of the lights. It felt like I was driving into a painting. Naturally, I wasn’t in town for much of the weekend and the lights were taken down two days after the holiday ended. If ever there was a time to keep the lights up for longer, this was it!
I went out to shoot the tower one night in between severe thunderstorms and got this image of the tower from the south side of the tracks. I didn’t take a single image from north of the tracks. Murr’s work deserved better, but it sadly didn’t stay up long enough for me to get it. Maybe someone can begin a kickstarter campaign to get Murr’s lights up on a monthly basis. It’d be great to see the downtown like this more frequently.
