Storm at Sea
About Share PurchaseThe very first morning I was in the Cayman Islands, I stepped outside my lodgings and saw an amazing storm at sea. No one seemed particularly worried about it or paid it much heed. I figured it was similar to the way that hardcore New Yorkers and Chicagoans never look up and gawk at the buildings. Still, I couldn’t stop starring at the storm and taking pictures of it.
In the many, many weeks I’ve spent there since, I have never witnessed so much as a dark cloud out at sea. This was a one-off thing for me and I’m pretty glad that I was able to take so many great images of it.
What made the storm so spectacular to me was the fact that I had an entirely open horizon in front of me; there was nothing between me and the storm. Not only that, but I was far enough away from it that I could shoot the entirety of the storm system in one image. Not this image, mind you, but I did do it. Also worth noting: I never felt a single drop of rain while I was out shooting.
