The Greenwell House
About Share PurchaseA lot of people offer me the opportunity to shoot in their homes or with their antique cars. 99% of these offers are people just offering lip service and being polite; they have no actual interest in having me shoot their home or car. It’s just something to say. Lynne and Coult Greenwell are not most people however.
I met Lynne and Coult at an exhibition of my photography. Lynne mentioned if I ever wanted to shoot in their home, they’d be happy to work with me to do just that. And then they did! It was all quite lovely.
The concept that I went with with Lynne and Coult’s home was one of a riverboat. “Think Murder on the Nile,” I said. “You’re going to be on the second story of this riverboat going down the Nile, drinks in hand, not a care in the world.” The wardrobe was to be white linen; 1930s cruise wear. Coupled with the beautiful railing, ceiling fan and porch overhang, I think I captured this vibe here in spades.
I always feel a twinge of guilt with photos like these because Lynne and Court’s house is gorgeous. It’s beyond gorgeous… and I ended up shooting it so that everything on the house, with the exception of the second floor balcony, is hidden by trees and hedges. The house is quite exquisite, as you can see in this photo from a different angle. However, the photo that works the best is the one where you can’t see any of it, so I’m go with that one.
