The Parking Garage Exhibit – Madeline Diane & Haesi Fanizzo Photo #10
About Share PurchaseThere are two things that I marvel at about this series of photos: 1) It’s by far the most ‘me’ shoot I’ve ever done, and 2) I don’t understand why it works so well.
Because I was shooting with insanely long shutter speeds–we were shooting in a dark garage at night–it was paramount that I shoot with my camera on a tripod. Because the tripod effectively locked the camera into position, if I didn’t zoom in, the only things that would change from image to image were the poses of the models. This was the first photo of Maddie that I shot in this area. Her arms were at her sides and her pose wasn’t so much of a pose as it was the way she happened to be standing there. We went through several poses… and the non-posed version is the one that works. (You can see a posed photo here… and the pose feels wildly out of place).
So I did a shoot that required models not to move for long chunks of time that worked best when I photographed them not modeling. What this means is beyond me. I swear though, I am not going to start hiring people not to work.
