This photo is a lot closer to my initial vision than the image I ended up releasing (which can be seen here). For several reasons though, this just doesn’t work as well. The boys, Rocco DeNapoli and Joe Rooney, are too close to the camera, and the spacing in the image is not right. The lifeguard here, Colin Cimino, also appears lost in the background. The eye moves from the boys roughhousing directly over to Barbara Corrie and Kathleen Braun on the pool deck. This is what happens when you need to discover what the truth of the image is.
