The Suburban Fence

There is something uniquely poetic to me about the lonely and the depressing. As such, this photo speaks to me. I mean, it really, really, really speaks to me.
Shot in a distant southwest suburb of Chicago, Crest Hill, I took this photo just down the street from the two houses that looked exactly like one another. What struck me the most about this fence was the way it seemingly cordoned off 1/250,000th of this corn field for someone. If it was for a dog–which would make the most sense to me–I just imagined how sad he would be to get out into the yard and know that he basically had an infinite playground on the other side of this rickety wooden fence… if he could just get to it.
